Extended Detour of King Street Bridge Scheduled to Begin April 13 – Plan Extra Time for Travel

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced that it will close the King Street bridge over the San Sebastian River on U.S. Route 1 in St. Augustine beginning on April 13, 2026, for construction. During the closure, a detour will be in place for approximately seven months, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting. Roadway users and buses will follow posted detour signs to U.S. 1 and Malaga Street to access King Street. A temporary signal at U.S. 1 and Malaga Street has been installed to assist drivers through the detour safely.
